Dr. Andrew Blumenfeld, MD

One of the world authorities on post concussive headaches and TBI headaches, Dr. Blumenfeld grew up in South Africa and graduated from St. Andrews College, South Africa, with a first class pass and distinction in mathematics. He attended the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa Medical School and completed a neurology residency at Johannesburg Hospital. In 1986 he moved to the United States and completed a neurology residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Following this, he completed an EEG and EMG fellowship, also at University of Massachusetts Medical School.

He served as staff neurologist at Kaiser Permanente, San Diego from 1990 to 2004. As Chief of Neurology Service at Kaiser from 1999-2004, his unit was named a Neurotoxin Center of Excellence by Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Medical College. The Neurotoxin Centers of Excellence recognize excellence in neurologists and other physicians who specialize in headache management.

Dr Blumenfeld is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Headache Society. He has published widely and has been an active researcher in headaches.

Dr. Blumenfeld has been a principal investigator for many research studies showing that Botulinum toxin type A, sold under the brand name Botox®, is an effective preventative therapy for headache in chronic migraine sufferers. He has treated more patients with Botox therapy than any other provider in the world and trains other physicians on this nationally and internationally.

Dr. Bilal Choudry, MD

Dr. Bilal Choudry, MD is a board-certified member of the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry. He completed his undergraduate training at UC Davis and medical school at the Medical University of Lublin. Dr. Choudry’s residency was completed at University of Kentucky where he also served as Chief resident. Subsequently, he did an epilepsy fellowship at Harvard University-Brigham and Women’s Hospital. During this fellowship, he was able to participate in advanced surgical and non-surgical treatment and work up of epileptics under the tutelage of world renowned Epileptologists.

Choudry enjoys educating and giving presentations in Epilepsy surgical conferences, as well as giving weekly lectures to Harvard medical students introducing them to EEGs and training Harvard residents in interpreting and reporting routine, intracranial and continuous video EEGs.

He is an active member of the American Epilepsy Society, American Academy of Neurology, and American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. Dr. Choudry works diligently to be an advocate for his patients.

Dr. Monika A. Gupta, MD

Monika A. Gupta, MD is a board-certified member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. She graduated from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Biology and completed her M.D. at the University of Florida College of Medicine. After a medical internship at Loma Linda University, she completed her Neurology Residency at University of California San Diego, and was given the honor of Chief Resident. She subsequently completed her neuromuscular fellowship at UCSD with subspecialty training in neuromuscular diseases, electromyography/nerve conduction studies, and botulinum toxin use.

Following her training, Dr. Gupta moved to Bakersfield, CA after joining Kaiser Permanente where she started the Neurology Department. After practicing in Kern County for 4.5 years, she relocated to San Diego with her husband, who is an Internal Medicine/Allergy & Immunology physician, and her two young daughters. Dr. Gupta worked in private practice for a year and was then recruited by the University of California San Diego to open a Neurology practice in Temecula. Dr. Gupta was an integral part of starting the stroke and neurology services at Temecula Valley Hospital where she also served as the Stroke Medical Director. Since the end of 2016, Dr. Gupta has been treating patients with traumatic brain injuries at Coastal Medical Group in Del Mar. She is committed to helping patients who have suffered brain and other neurological injuries as a result of accidents.

Dr. Gupta owes much of her passion and interests in Neurology to her father who is also a neurologist in Florida.

He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, was the Director of Forensic Psychiatry at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City, and spent years training psychiatrists in hospital settings.
